Records Fall as Men’s Track & Field Compete at Fastrack National Invite

Staten Island, N.Y. – The Holy Family University men's track & field team broke two school records as the Tigers competed in the Fastrack National Invite comprised of a number of teams from Division I, II, and III on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Meet Highlights

* Junior Terrence Jones (Newark, N.J./William Allen) broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles two weeks after teammate and fellow junior Reymond Reyes (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) set the new standard. Jones, competing in the 60-meter Hurdles Invite race, broke Reyes' mark of 8.85 seconds in the preliminaries with a time of 8.59 seconds. Jones went on to finals and broke his new mark with a time of 8.50 seconds to finish seventh overall in the event.

* In the triple jump, freshman Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College HS) set a new school mark in his first meet with the Tigers. Pierre recorded a distance of 44' 4.25" (13.52m) to finish seventh overall. His distance broke the previous school record of 43' 8.5" (13.32m) set by Vontae Hilliard at the 2017 East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships. Pierre also competed in the high jump invite event and finished third overall with a height of 6'6" (1.98m).

* Freshman Ty Brown (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) competed in the 60-meter hurdles race and finished fifth overall with a new personal-best time of 9.09 seconds. Brown also took part in the high jump and finished eighth overall with a height of 6' 0.75" (1.85m).

* Freshman Udoka Odoemene (Sicklerville, N.J./Overbrook (Rowan Univ.)) recorded a top-10 finish in the shot put event. Odoemene finished ninth overall with a distance of 46' 0.5" (14.03m).

* In the pole vault event, freshman Micah Cooper (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) finished sixth overall as he recorded a distance of 14' 3.25" (4.35m).

Next Up
Holy Family returns to action in two weeks as the Tigers compete in the annual ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships to close out the indoor season. The championship meet is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
