Tigers Stifle Wildcats in CACC South Clash



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team held Wilmington University to just six first half points on its way to a 73-34 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division action on Tuesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Defense played a key role in the opening half as Holy Family limited the Wildcats to just 3-of-21 shooting in the first 20 minutes of the game.  The Tigers held the Wildcats scoreless in the second quarter marking the first time Holy Family has held a team without a point since women's basketball moved to quarters in 2015-16. The Tigers' defense forced 19 turnovers in the first half and 24 for the game.
 
* Holy Family held Wilmington without a basket for a 12:24 span ranging from the :43 second mark of the first quarter to the 8:19 minute mark of the third quarter.  The Tigers led, 40-6, at the half.
 
* Holy Family led by as many as 42 points in the game after sophomore Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) scored a layup basket at the 6:13 mark of the fourth quarter to make the score 66-24.
 
* Holy Family shot a season-best 53.4-percent from the field (31-58).
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Freshman Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) scored in double-figures for the third straight game as she totaled a career-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.  She also grabbed seven rebounds.
 
* Sophomore Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Kokolus each finished the night with 11 points.
 
* Sophomore Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) tallied six points and recorded a team-high eight rebounds. 
 
* Sophomore Taylor Cotter (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) finished with eight points (4-5 FG) to go along with four rebounds and three assists, while fellow sophomore Anujin Dashdorj (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) added eight points and three assists.  Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) also tallied eight points with five boards.
 
* In the last two games, the Holy Family defense has forced a combined 49 turnovers. 
 
* For Wilmington, Sabreen Muslim scored a team-high 12 points off the bench to go along with four rebounds.  Emily Ansah added eight points and eight rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 38th meeting between Holy Family and Wilmington since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 33-5 versus the Wildcats in that span.
 
Next Up
Holy Family is idle until Wednesday, Feb. 9 when the Tigers travel to face Georgian Court University in a CACC contest.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Wellness Center.
