PHILADELPHIA – Trailing by as many as 14 in the first half and by eight at the break, the HFU women's basketball team outscored Chestnut Hill by six in both the third and fourth quarters en route to a 57-53 triumph over its city-rivals on Thursday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) was the lone Tiger in double-figures, tying a game-high with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting
- Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) was second on Holy Family with nine points, one shy of a season-best, on 3-of-4 3-pointers
- Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) all scored seven, with Tretter leading all players with a career-high six assists
- Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) paced the Tigers with a game-high six rebounds and three steals, adding six points and four assists

- HFU limited the Griffins to 27.4 percent shooting, 17-of-62, a new season-low by a Tigers opponent

How it Happened
First Quarter
- Chestnut Hill opened the scoring and led throughout the half, erasing two 3-pointers from Riepe to build a double-digit lead, 7-17, with 2:21 remaining in the opening period
- Holy Family came back with the next five points, but back-to-back baskets by the Griffins re-established a 12-21 advantage after 10 minutes of play
Second Quarter
- The lead reached as high 14 when CHC scored the first five points of the second, but HFU fought back with two baskets from both Moore and Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) before Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored four of the final five points of the half for a 24-32 score-line at the break
Third Quarter
- Holy Family came out of the locker room with the first eight points, by four different Tigers, to tie the score for the first time three minutes out of the locker room
- HFU then took its first lead, 37-35, on Searfoss' layup with 3:38 showing, but the Griffins scored the last four points of the period for a 37-39 advantage with 10 minutes to go
Fourth Quarter
- Holy Family scored the first nine points of the fourth, seven of which were by Morrow as she hit a 3-pointer with 9:06 left to give the Tigers the lead for good before her layup made the score 46-39 at the 6:48 mark
- HFU meanwhile held Chestnut Hill scoreless for the first 5:10, with Riepe answering a Griffin free throw with a trifecta for the Tigers' largest advantage, 49-40, with 4:38 to play
- Holy Family also led by nine, 51-42, following a Searfoss layup 1:29 later, and by eight, 53-45, on two free throws with 2:20 remaining
- Chestnut Hill was able to get as close as three with the next five points, the final of which brought the scoreboard to 53-50 with 46 seconds left
- Searfoss would respond with a jumper on the ensuing trip down the court and after a Griffin triple with seven seconds showing, the freshman iced the game with two foul shots
