Aamir Hurst's (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) three free throws with seven seconds remaining gave the HFU men's basketball team a 76-73 win at the University of the District of Columbia on Monday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- That capped a game-high 19-point performance for the freshman, who made 6-of-11 field goals and 4-of-8 3-pointers
- Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) tied season-bests with 14 points and four assists, the latter of which led Holy Family
- Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) recorded his third double-double of the season with 13 points and game-highs of 11 rebounds and two blocks
- Nate Conyer (Pemberton, N.J./BCIT Medford Tech) added 11 points on 3-of-4 3-pointers, with Tazir Cantey (Lindenwold, N.J./Eastern Regional) scoring nine on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) made it five Tigers in double-figures with 10 points, falling one board shy of his eighth double-double
- Phil Brown Jr. (Hillside, N.J./Hudson Catholic (District of Columbia)) matched Mixson and Esposito with a game-high two steals

How it Happened
First Half
- The entirety of the first half was played within a single possession, aside from the 16 seconds after a Robinson Jr. basket made the score 20-15 with 9:43 on the clock
- Following nine ties and six lead changes, the two teams were separated by just one point, 33-32, when UDC beat the buzzer with a layup
Second Half
- District of Columbia came out of the locker room with a 3-pointer, but it would lead just for just 27 seconds as Mixson answered with a basket
- Espoito then both started and ended a 7-0 spurt that broke a 37-37 tie, with his triple establishing the first two-possession advantage, 44-37, with 15:14 to go
- Seven unanswered that ended with Cantey's jumper then produced the first double-digit lead, 57-46, with 10:39 showing
- The second double-digit advantage, 64-54, came on a Hurst 3-pointer with 6:58 to play, but UDC came all the way back to within two on eight straight points over the next 1:49
- The Firebirds then countered an Esposito trifecta with a layup, but they would go scoreless for 2:41 as HFU scored six to go up 73-64 with just 1:44 left
- District of Columbia made three consecutive trifectas though, the final of which knotted the score with just 36 seconds on the clock
- Hurst was fouled on an attempted 3-pointer on the ensuring trip, and after the freshman kept his cool the Tigers would force a miss to secure the victory
