PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's basketball team closed the game on a 12-5 run over the final 2:20 to hold off a charging Bentley in a 77-70 triumph over the regionally-ranked Falcons on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.
Individual Highlights
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) scored 10 more points than any other player, finishing with 26 on 9-of-13 field goals and perfect 7-of-7 free throws
- She added a game-high five assists and three steals
- Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) made 7-of-9 foul shots en route to 15 points, the afternoon's third-highest total
- Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led all players with 11 rebounds, adding 11 points for her second double-double of the season
- Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) made it five Tigers in double-figures with 10 points apiece
- Tretter made 7-of-7 free throws as well, while blocking a game-high two shots

- Holy Family made a season-best 24-of-28 from the line, 85.7 percent, compared to Bentley's 14-of-20 (70.0 percent)
- The Tigers also doubled up the Falcons in fastbreak points, 36-28, while holding a 36-28 edge in points in the paint
How it Happened
First Quarter
- Two Moore layups sandwiched a Tretter triple as part of seven unanswered that established the first two-possession advantage, 17-12, with 2:43 left in the opening period
- Bentley would come back with seven straight of its own though, en route to taking a 19-21 advantage into the second
Second Quarter
- After Prevost opened the scoring, the Falcons hit back-to-back 3-pointers for their largest lead, 21-27, 2:25 into the quarter
- Searfoss scored 10 straight HFU points, beginning a 13-2 surge that ended with two Tretter free throws making the score 34-29 4:01 ahead of the break
- Searfoss then scored Holy Family's final four points of the period, including a driving layup that matched the Tigers largest first half advantage, 42-35, entering the locker room
Third Quarter
- Tretter opened the second half with a 3-pointer for the largest lead of the afternoon
- Bentley would score the final five points of the third to make it one-point game, 55-56, entering the fourth
Fourth Quarter
- Searfoss converted a three-point play to begin the final quarter, but the Falcons scored four in a row to tie the score for the first time in the second half
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) responded with a layup though, and four straight Prevost points re-established a two-possession advantage, 65-59, with 6:04 to go
- Bentley would not go away, this time scoring six straight to knot the score once more, 65-65, with just 2:41 left
- Holy Family again had an immediate answer, this time in the form of back-to-back baskets by Morrow
- Two foul shots got Bentley as close as 70-71 with 23 seconds showing, but Searfoss calmly knocked down two free throws and the Tigers would get a defensive stop
- Two Hinkle foul shots then iced the contest
