BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Up by 18 early in the fourth quarter, and by five in the final minute, the HFU women's basketball team fell victim to a Bloomsburg comeback in a 70-65 overtime loss at the Huskies on Monday evening.
Individual Highlights
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) was the lone Tiger in double-figures with 14 points, and the freshman had double the amount of steals as any other player with a season-high six
- Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) led all players with a career-best four assists, and she fell one rebound shy of Jenn Kokolus' (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) team-high eight
- Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) both contributed nine points, with the latter making 4-of-6 field goals, while Morrow, Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) all scored eight

How it Happened
First Quarter
- Bloomsburg scored the first seven, and nine of the first 11, points, but HFU answered with 11 in a row, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Riepe for a 13-9 advantage at the 1:55 mark
- The Huskies scored the final basket for a 13-11 score-line after 10 minutes of play
Second Quarter
- The Tigers led 15-12 following a Searfoss jumper 2:41 into the second, only to have BU score eight straight for a 15-20 advantage 3:20 ahead of the half
- A Morrow jumper and Prevost 3-pointer knotted the score just over a minute later, before a Huskies triple and Moore jumper made the score 22-23 at the break
Third Quarter
- Searfoss opened the scoring with a layup 30 seconds in, giving the Tigers a lead that would last until the final seconds of regulation
- The began a 13-0 flurry to begin the half, with a Prevost layup making it a double-digit advantage, 33-23, at the 6:38 mark
- Holy Family held the Huskies scoreless for the first 4:42 of the period, and two Emma Ingersoll-Weng (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) foul throws in the final second completed a 26-9 period for a 48-32 lead
Fourth Quarter
- Morrow then opened the fourth with two free shots for a game-high 18-point advantage, 50-32, with 9:11 remaining
- Bloomsburg did not score for the first 2:38, but a 3-pointer began a 16-2 surge to get as close as four, 52-48, on a layup with 3:18 to go
- A Moore layup with 1:53 showing re-established a six-point advantage, only to have the Huskies score four straight to make it a one-possession game for the first time since the opening minutes of the second quarter with 57 seconds left
- Tretter hit a huge 3-pointer 14 seconds after, but Bloomsburg would score the final five points of regulation, including hitting two foul shots with just 1.2 seconds on the clock to send the game to overtime
Overtime
- Tretter opened the overtime scoring with a basket 1:18 in, before two Huskies free throws tied the score at 59 with 2:51 to play
- Bloomsburg then made its first basket, a 3-pointer with 2:09 left, for its first lead - 59-62 - since the opening minute of the third quarter
- The Huskies' lead stretched to as large as four with 1:31 showing, but Moore hit a 3-pointer just 11 seconds later
- The two teams traded two free throws, with Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) making a one-point game once more, 65-66, when she sunk 2-of-2 with 24 seconds to go
- Bloomsburg made the first two of four foul shots down the stretch though, before forcing an HFU miss on the ensuing possession
