Aamir Hurst's (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) 3-pointer with 2:16 remaining turned out to be the final points in the HFU men's basketball's 66-63 win over American International on Sunday afternoon, which completed a 2-0 opening weekend for the Tigers.
Individual Highlights
- Hurst finished with 15 points, one shy of Eric Esposito's (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) team-high 16, as he made 6-of-8 field goals and all three of his 3-point attempts
- Esposito made 5-of-6 free throws and added a team-high three assists and a game-high two steals, while his seven rebounds were second on the team
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) led Holy Family with a career-high 13 boards, adding 14 points for his third career double-double
- Malik Archer (Philadelphia, Pa./Mathematics,Civics & Science Charter School (Beaver County CC)) was the fourth Tiger in double-figures with 14 points, which included making 4-of-5 foul shots

- HFU made more than double the amount of free throws as AIC, 13-6, shooting 72.2 percent compared to the Yellow Jacket's 46.2 percent
- The Tigers held a second straight opponent under 40.0 percent shooting, as American International made just 24-of-66 field goals (36.4 percent)

How it Happened
First Half
- The Tigers started strong with the first five points, but neither team led by five again until the Yellow Jackets did 26-31 at the 5:31 mark, as the two teams exchanged 13 lead changes
- HFU responded to its largest deficit by scoring the next 14 points, capped by Hurst's triple giving the Tigers a game-high 39-31 advantage 1:47 ahead of the break
- AIC would close the half with the final seven points though, making it a one-point game entering the locker room
Second Half
- The entirety of the second half was played within two possessions, with Holy Family leading by as many as six, 48-42, when Esposito made a foul shot with 13:28 left
- The Yellow Jackets scored nine of the next 11 points to take its first second half advantage, 50-51, 2:48 later
- Neither team led by more than two points down the stretch, until Hurts' game-winning 3-pointer
- Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) tied the score twice, at 59 and 61, before Robinson Jr.'s layup with 2:53 to go knotted the score one final time at 63
- The Tigers defense forced four misses over the final 1:45, including two in the final four seconds, with Robinson Jr. also recording a steal
