Volleyball Sweeps Felician for Seventh Consecutive Victory

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Holy Family University volleyball team swept Felician (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) for its seventh consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) led all players with 32 assists and three service aces
  • Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) posted a match-high 17 digs
  • Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the Tigers with 12 kills while swinging .308, with Isabella Mosquera (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) and Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) adding nine and eight kills on .643 and .368 hitting
  • Mosquera was the lone student-athlete with multiple blocks
  • Brianna Moss (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) notably set a career-best with two aces
 
Inside the Box 
  • HFU had seven aces, compared to the Golden Falcons' one
  • The Tigers' .280 hitting percentage was its third-highest of the season, while Felician swung just .088
 
How it Happened
First Set
  • Felician jumped out to a 7-2 advantage, but HFU came right back with a 7-2 run of its own featuring 2.5 points from Mosquera
  • The two teams traded the next six points, before back-to-back Hartney kills sparked three unanswered
  • The Golden Falcons momentarily tied it back up at 16-16, before four six straight Tiger points capped a 9-2 surge
Second Set
  • Holy Family never trailed as it scored six of the first seven points, which included two Mosquera kills and two Steck aces
  • Felician did pull as close as 12-14 with five consecutive points, but the Tigers scored the next two and the Golden Falcons could never get back within two
Third Set
  • Once again, HFU never trailed after scoring four of the first five points
  • Felician got within one on seven occasions, including as late as 19-20, but Osenkarski both began and finished a 5-0 flurry to end the match
