Rowan’s Late Second Half Brace Gives Men’s Soccer 2-1 Triumph Over Jefferson in Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – Two Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) goals in a span of 1:53 late in the second half gave the Holy Family University men's soccer team a 2-1 triumph at Jefferson in the Tigers' regular season finale on Wednesday afternoon.

The victory was HFU's ninth in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, a new program record, while the Tigers' second place finish in the regular season standings matches the program record set in 2003.

As the two seed, Holy Family will host seventh-seeded Felician in a CACC Tournament Quarterfinal match at Tiger Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Rams had opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before Rowan's first goal came from Eric Williams' (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) long ball behind the defense into the center of the box for the sophomore to one-touch lob over the keeper in the 75th minute.

Then less than two minutes later, Marcelo Ibarra (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) won the ball of the left wing and whipped a a back-post cross for Rowan to head across face.

Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) made two saves a minute apart, in the 85th and 86th, to preserve the victory.
