PHILADELPHIA – Two
Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) goals in a span of 1:53 late in the second half gave the Holy Family University men's soccer team a 2-1 triumph at Jefferson in the Tigers' regular season finale on Wednesday afternoon.
The victory was HFU's ninth in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, a new program record, while the Tigers' second place finish in the regular season standings matches the program record set in 2003.
As the two seed, Holy Family will host seventh-seeded Felician in a CACC Tournament Quarterfinal match at Tiger Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Rams had opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before Rowan's first goal came from
Eric Williams' (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) long ball behind the defense into the center of the box for the sophomore to one-touch lob over the keeper in the 75th minute.
Then less than two minutes later,
Marcelo Ibarra (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) won the ball of the left wing and whipped a a back-post cross for Rowan to head across face.
Luke Shank (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) made two saves a minute apart, in the 85th and 86th, to preserve the victory.

First Half
- Jefferson had the first four shots, with Shank making his first save just prior to the goal
- The Tigers had the next five, four of which were by Taylor, with the final one forcing the Rams' first stop in the 28th minute
- Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) had the other attempt
- Shank made his second save in the 40th minute
- HFU pressured in the final minutes, with Will Stackhouse (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) firing on net in the 44th minute before Michael Forde (Cambridge, United Kingdom/(Harcum College)) was denied just prior to the halftime whistle
Second Half
- Touey had the first attempt five and a half minutes out of the break as his shot was stopped
- Lautaro Berisso (La Plata, Argentina/(Camden County CC)) had the next attempt five and a half minutes later
- Touey had a shot cleared off the line in the 64th minute, and his saved effort less than a minute later was HFU's sixth straight attempt
- Jefferson's first shot of the second half came in the 68th minute, and the Tigers responded to that with Berisso firing on net 30 seconds later
