Volleyball Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule at Molly

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Holy Family University volleyball team closed out its non-conference schedule at Molloy on Friday night.

Individual Highlights
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) led all players with 24 assists
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) paced HFU with a season-best four service aces, while Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the Tigers with eight kills, both the second-highest totals in the match
  • Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) was one of two players in double-figures with 10 digs

Inside the Box
  • Holy Family had seven more digs, 54-47, and the two teams tied with 27 assists

How it Happened
First Set (25-16)
  • The Lions scored three of the first four and six of the first eight points, leading throughout after the Tigers scored the first point
Second Set (26-24)
  • Trailing by as many as six three times, including at 13-19, HFU stormed all the way back to take two leads and even had a set point
  • The Tigers began the surge with back-to-back kills by Kinzer and Hartney, before back-to-back Kinzer aces forced a Molloy timeout
  • Kinzer came out of the timeout with another ace and after the two teams traded three points, a Hartney kill sparked three unanswered capped by a Zoe Krause (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) kill and Steck ace for a 22-21 HFU advantage
  • Each team then scored two in a row, with back-to-back kills by Hartney and Krause giving the Tigers set point, but the Lions would take the final three points for a 2-0 lead
Third Set (25-13)
  • Molloy carried that momentum into the third, responding to two early ties with five straight points for an advantage that would never get below four
