CALDWELL, N.J. – Two goals in the opening 20 minutes were enough, as HFU men's soccer responded to its seven-match unbeaten streak ending on Tuesday with a 2-1 win at Caldwell on Saturday afternoon.
The result clinched the Tigers' fifth consecutive berth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament.
Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he collected
Dakota Taylor's (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) long ball up the left sideline, cut inside and unleashed a curler into the right corner from just outside the top-left of the 18.
The second goal came from
Joseph Amabile's (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) long throw-in up the right side-line.
Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) collected it and after holding off a defender he drove to the end-line, where his near-post cross was cleverly flicked in by
Marcelo Ibarra (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge).
Caldwell equalized off a corner kick just 1:19 into the second half, but the Cougars could manage just one more attempt on net the remainder of the contest in the 78th minute.
