Tigers Fall to Nationally Ranked Devils, 65-39



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to nationally ranked No. 25 and city rival University of the Sciences by the score of 65-39 on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* USciences scored the first 10 points of the game and held the Tigers without a field goal until the 3:41 mark of the opening quarter.  Sophomore Taylor Cotter's (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) jumper made the score 12-5 but the Devils quickly regained their double-digit lead scoring on two of their next three possession.  USciences led 18-7 by quarters end.
 
* In the second quarter, USciences maintained its double-digit advantage despite the Tigers keeping pace with the Devils.  USciences took a 30-18 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* USciences pulled away from the Tigers midway through the third quarter.  After a Cotter jumper made the score 35-23, USciences followed with an 11-0 run over the next three-plus minutes to lead 46-23 with 3:10 to play in the third.
 
* USciences led by as many as 26 points on a few occasions in the fourth quarter for its largest lead of the game.  A three-pointer with 2:29 to play in regulation by Isla Brennan gave the Devils their first 26-point lead at 61-35.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Cotter scored a career-high 12 points off the bench for the Tigers.  She also finished with eight rebounds to tie her career-high. 

* Sophomore Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) finished the game with eight points and team-high nine rebounds for the Tigers. 
 
* Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) filled the box score with six points, six rebounds and four assists.
 
* For USciences, Taylor Hamm recorded a double-double with a game-high 17 points (6-10 FG) and 12 rebounds.  She also fished out a game-high five assists.  Kendall Keyes also scored in double-figures for the Devils as she came away with 15 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 43rd meeting between Holy Family and USciences since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 29-14 versus the Devils in that span.  USciences has won eight of the last nine meetings in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 8 as the Tigers travel to face Caldwell University in a CACC contest.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
