How It Happened

* In a low scoring first half, Holy Family slowly built a double-digit lead and led 14-4 at the 11:56 mark after junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) split a pair of free throws.  The Tigers would go on to lead 28-14 at the half after holding the Devils to 16.1-percent (5-31) shooting from the field, including 0-for-10 from deep range.

* In the second half the Tigers led by as many as 17 points on two occasions with the latter coming late in the game.  Freshman Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) scored a layup basket to make the score 49-32 with less than four minutes to play in regulation.

* Over the final three-plus minutes the Devils chipped away at the Tigers lead going on a 13-4 run after Toha's basket.  Jordan Davidson made a pair of free throws with :32 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to single digits at 53-45.  On the following Tigers' possession, junior Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) converted a pair of free throws to cap the scoring and give the Tigers the double-digit victory.
