Men’s Track & Field Breaks Three School Records at Great Dane Classic

RESULTS

Staten Island, N.Y. – The Holy Family University men's track & field team broke three school records at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University at Albany on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.

Meet Highlights

* After nearly breaking the 60-meter hurdles record last week, sophomore Reymond Reyes (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) finally got the mark this time around.  Reyes recorded a time of 8.90 seconds in the preliminaries and then finished in 8.85 seconds in the finals to break the school record.  The previous mark of 8.88 seconds was held by Travis Perinhoe since the 2012-13 indoor season.  Reyes' time of 8.85 seconds was good enough to finish first overall in the 60-meter hurdle 'Finals Section 1' race.

* In the high jump, freshman Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) broke the school record with a height of 6'6.75" (2.00m) and in the process finished fourth overall in the event.  The previous record was set by teammate Ty Brown (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) who recorded a height of 6' 4.25" (1.94m) in the Fastrack Season Opener in December.

* Freshman Micah Cooper (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) broke his own school record in the pole vault event.  Cooper finished third overall with a height of 14'9" (4.50m).  His previous record was 13' 11.25" (4.25m) set at the Seahawk Shootout back in December.

* In the 400-meters, senior Noah Chinye (Largo, Md./Skylight HS (Prince George's CC)) finished third among Division II-III competitors and 19th overall as he finished in a time of 51.16 seconds to set a new personal-best time. Sophomore Nafis Zollicoffer (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway West) also set a new personal-best in the event as he finished 24th overall and seventh among Division II-III participants.  Zollicoffer finished in a time of 51.86 seconds.

* In the long jump, freshman AJ Anderson (Bloomfield, Conn./Bloomfield HS) finished ninth overall and third among Division II-III leaders with a distance of 21' 2.5" (6.46m).  He also competed in the triple jump and finished 17th overall with a distance of 41' 4.5" (12.61m).

* Freshman Udoka Odoemene (Sicklerville, N.J./Overbrook (Rowan Univ.)) finished 10th overall in the shot put after recording a distance of 45' 4.5" (13.83m).  Odoemene's distance was second best among Division II-III throwers.

* Senior Brian Dietz (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) finished 11th overall and third among Division II-III competitors in the 500-meters.  Dietz recorded a time of 1:08.45 to set a new personal-best.
