How It Happened

* The second quarter turned out to be the difference in the game.  Chestnut Hill outscored the Tigers, 22-7, in the second frame after only leading 16-15 after a tight first quarter.  The Griffins opened the second quarter with a 12-1 run to lead 28-16.  A three-pointer by Cassie Sebold capped the run at the 5:30 mark.

* The Chestnut Hill defense held Holy Family to just 2-of-12 shooting in the second quarter.  Chestnut Hill's Bri Hewlett scored 11 of the team's 22 points in the quarter.  The Griffins led by as many as 18 points before ending the half with a 38-22 advantage.

* The large deficit didn't deter Holy Family as the Tigers came out firing in the third quarter.  Holy Family opened with an 11-2 run to cut the Griffins' lead down to single digits.  Freshman Ava Morrow (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) drilled a three-pointer to make the score 40-33 at the 3:45 mark.  On the following Chestnut Hill possession, the Griffins responded with a three to increase the lead back to double-digits.  Holy Family made it a single digit game in the final minute of the quarter when freshman Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) connected on a three-pointer to make the score 49-41 heading into the final 10 minutes.

* In the fourth quarter, Chestnut Hill increased its lead to as many as 15 points in the quarter at 63-48 with just over two minutes to play in regulation.  A quick 7-0 run by the Tigers made it an eight-point game (63-55) with less than a minute showing on the clock. Time though was not on the Tigers side as the Griffins were able to hold off the rally at the free throw line.  Senior Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) capped the scoring with a three-pointer at the buzzer resulting in the final score of 68-62.
