How It Happened

* Chestnut Hill led the entire first half after opening the game with a 12-2 run over the first 4:07 minutes of action.  The Griffins finished the first half with a 16-point advantage at 35-19.  Chestnut Hill held Holy Family to just 20-percent shooting in the opening half, including 0-of-11 from deep range.

* On the Griffins' first possession of the second half, Conor Regan knocked down a three-pointer to give Chestnut Hill its largest lead of the game at 38-19.

* As the half progressed, the tide began to turn as the Tigers slowly chipped away at the Griffins lead.  Chestnut Hill led 51-40 at the 8:29 mark and that would be its final double-digit lead of the game.  The Tigers used a 16-5 run over the next six minutes to tie the game at 56-56 and overcome a 19-point deficit.  Junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) capped the rally with a game-tying three-pointer with 2:16 remaining in regulation.

*  The Griffins regained the lead on their following possession when MJ Iraldi converted a pair of free throws.  The Tigers quickly responded and tied the game back up at 58-58 on an Esposito jumper.

* Chestnut Hill would break the tie two possessions later with a layup basket by Noah Charles to make the score 60-58 with :38 seconds showing on the clock.  The Tigers would come up short on their next possession which forced them to foul.  The Griffins missed the first of two attempts before making the second to grab a three-point lead.

* Outside a Holy Family timeout, the Griffins fouled junior Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) with two seconds remaining.  Randolph made the first free throw to make the score 61-59 but a lane violation on the second resulted in a Holy Family turnover.  The Tigers extended the game with a foul but the Griffins made both free throws to increase their lead to 63-59 in the final second.
