Tigers Resume CACC Play with Setback at Post



Waterbury, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest of the New Year as the Tigers fell to Post University by the score of 91-54 on Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center.

How It Happened
 
* Post used an 11-0 run after Holy Family scored the game's first point via the free throw line which gave the Eagles an 11-1 lead by the midway point of the quarter.  The Eagles outscored the Tigers, 21-7, in the first 10 minutes while their defense limited the Tigers to just two field goals. The Eagles went on to take a 48-22 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.   
 
* Post shot nearly 50-percent from the field for the game and drained 14 three-pointers, including eight in the first half.  The Eagles forced 25 turnovers resulting in 28 points. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sophomore Jenn Kokolus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) had a breakout game for the Tigers as she recorded her first career double-double.  Kokolus scored a career-high 25 points (10-20 FG), while grabbing a career-best 13 rebounds.
 
* Senior Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) and sophomore Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) each scored eight points.
 
* For Post, Sha'Raya Haines (7-12 FG) and Jaeonna Sutton (8-14 FG) each scored 20 points.  Makayla Thompson and Kiera Fernandes each added 13 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 30th meeting between Holy Family and Post dating back to the 1996 season.  The win snapped the Eagles 29-game losing streak against the Tigers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 5 as the Tigers host city rival University of the Sciences in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
