How It Happened

* Jefferson held the game's largest lead after an 8-0 run led to a nine-point advantage early on in the second half.  Holy Family came within one point of the lead after junior Daniel Fleming (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) scored a basket to make the score 39-38 two minutes into the half.  Over the next two and a half minutes, the Rams increased their lead to 47-38 capped off by a three-pointer by Deondre Bourne.

* Holy Family would find itself within one point of the lead once more at the 12:03 mark when junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) drained a three-pointer to make the score 49-48.  Esposito's three was the final basket in the Tigers' mini 8-2 surge.

* Jefferson bumped its lead to six points later in the half when Erik Timko knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 62-56 with 6:06 left in the half.  The Tigers would once again come within one point (62-61) of the lead when junior Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) hit a three-pointer with four minutes to play. The Rams quickly responded with a three of their own on the ensuing possession to make it a two-possession game at 65-61.

* With 1:07 to play, the Tigers made another run at it with Esposito knocking down another three-pointer to make the score 68-66.  After a defensive stop, the Tigers came up empty on their next possession.  As a result, the Tigers were forced to foul with seven seconds remaining.  Bourne missed the first free throw for the Rams but made the second to make the score 69-66.  However, the Tigers' opportunity to tie the game came up short on a missed three-pointer by Fleming as Timko grabbed a key defensive board for the Rams.  The Tigers quickly fouled as Timko converted a pair of free throws with second seconds left to secure the victory.

* Holy Family led early in the first half holding a 15-9 advantage for its largest lead of the game.  Jefferson tied the game and took control of the lead midway through the first half when Bourne connected on two free throws to make the score 16-15.  From there, the Rams never trailed in the game despite the Tigers coming within one point of the lead on seven separate occasions.
