How It Happened

* Neither team held a lead greater than two possessions in a low scoring first half that featured a combined 44 points.  Goldey-Beacom led 22-18 at the 3:24 mark of the second quarter after a Zhur Cannon jumper.  Holy Family would go on to convert 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final 1:22 to tie the game at 22-22 heading into halftime.  Freshman Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) and sophomore Taylor Cotter (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) each converted a pair of free throws.

* Exiting halftime, the Tigers scored the first seven points of the third quarter jump started by a Megan O'Connell (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) three-pointer on the first possession of the half.  Holy Family would go on to lead by nine points at 36-27 thanks to the 14-5 run over the first 5:38 of the quarter.

* The Lightning cut the deficit down to 38-36 following a 9-2 run capped off by a three-pointer by Julie McCarron at the 3:21 mark.  Despite the rally by the Lightning, Holy Family responded by closing out the quarter with a 7-1 surge to lead 45-37 by quarters end.

* In the fourth quarter the Lightning scored the first five points to come within three points of the lead at 45-42.   That would be as close as the home team would get from potentially tying the game.  The Tigers went on a 9-4 run to increase their lead to as many as 10 points after a three-pointer by sophomore Lindsay Tretter (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) to make the score 56-46 with 5:34 to play.

* Holy Family held Goldey-Beacom to just one field goal in the final four minutes to secure the victory.
