Tigers Fall to Falcons in ‘Home’ Opener



Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped its home opener to Bentley University by the score of 3-1 in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field on the campus of Bryn Athyn College.  The Tigers home opener was held off site while the final stages of construction of 'New' Tiger Field were still taken place.

How It Happened
 
* TJ Walker scored the first two goals of the game for Bentley nine minutes apart.  His first came in the 11th minute after capitalizing off a Holy Family turnover.  Walker's second goal came in the 20th minute to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
 
* Holy Family cut the Bentley lead in half minutes later when senior Georg Montag (Philadelphia, Pa., Archbishop Ryan) converted a penalty kick attempt in the 23rd minute.  It marked Montag's second goal of the season.
 
* Bentley closed out the first half with a penalty kick as Connor Mote converted the attempt to extend the Falcons' lead to 3-1 in the 41st minute.
 
* Neither team scored in the second half with Bentley coming through with the lone shot on-goal in the final 45. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Sophomore Christian Hernandez (Burlington City, N.J./Life Center Academy) led the Tigers with four shots, while Montag finished the game with three total shot attempts.  Senior Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) also had multiple shots in the game as he totaled two.
 
* Bentley goalkeeper Markus Foehr finished the game with three saves in net.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third time Holy Family and Bentley faced one another.  The Falcons are now 3-0-0 in the all-time series that includes victories in 2006 and 2019. 
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action a week from today as the Tigers travel to face Bloomsburg University on Saturday, Sept. 11.  Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
