How It Happened

* Holy Family trailed the opening set at 4-2, but quickly overcame the small deficit with three miscues by the Wildcats capped off with a service ace by junior Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) to grab the lead for good.  Holy Family led by as many as four points in the set on a few occasions and the Wildcats eventually came within two points of tying the set at 20-18.  However, the Tigers closed the set with a 5-0 run taking advantage of more errors by the Wildcats.

* In the second set the Tigers never trailed after starting things off with a 5-1 run.  Each time the Wildcats would come within two points of the Tigers' lead, Holy Family would quickly respond with a pair of points to keep the home team at bay.  Case in point, the Wildcats came within one point of tying the set late at 23-22, but the Tigers halted any comeback with back-to-back scores in the form of kills by junior Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and Hartney to take the set, 25-22.

* Holy Family secured the shutout victory with a 25-15 victory in the final set.  The Tigers never trailed in the set and would score the final six points of the set to claim the match.  Holy Family held Wilmington to just 10 kills in the final set and forced seven attack errors.
