Whaley Wins 400-Meters at CACC Championships

RESULTS

Lakewood, N.J. – Holy Family University sophomore Isaiah Whaley (Mays Landing, N.J./Atlantic City) won the 400-meter dash at the annual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship hosted by Georgian Court University on Friday at the university's Track & Field Complex.  Holy Family finished fifth overall as a team.

Meet Highlights

* Whaley finished first overall in the 400-meters for the second time this season and recorded a new personal-best in the event with a time of 49.46 seconds; just shy of the school record of 49.43 seconds. As a result of his first-place finish, Whaley earned All-CACC first team recognition in the event.

* Sophomore Terrence Jones (Newark, N.J./William Allen) earned All-CACC second team honors after finishing second overall in the 400-meter hurdles.  Jones recorded a time of 58.84 seconds as he nearly came close to his own school record of 58.61 seconds set last month at the Osprey Twilight.  Jones also competed in the 110-meter hurdles and finished fourth overall in a time of 16.11 seconds.

* Jones and Whaley also earned All-CACC honors as they were part of the 4x400-meter relay team that received second team recognition.  Jones and Whaley along with Noah Chinye (Maryland/Skylight HS (Prince George's CC)) and MJ Powlowicz (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) finished second overall in the event with a time of 3:26.02.  The team set a season-best time for the Tigers in the 4x400 relay this season.

* Senior Benjamin Morley (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame HS) broke his own school record in the hammer throw after recording a distance of 113'11" (34.72m) as he finished fourth overall in the event.  His previous best mark of 107'0" (32.61m) was set recently at the Osprey Twilight.

* Junior Blake Impagliazzo (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) also broke a school record with a new mark in the discus.  Impagliazzo broke his own record with a distance of 136'1" (41.48m).  His previous best was also set at the Osprey Twilight (122'6" (37.35m).

* As a team the Tigers recorded their best-finish under the current championship format. Holy Family has finished fifth twice prior when there were fewer teams competing in the championship. It's the team's best finish under head coach Dwight Brandon.
