Whaley Wins 400-meters at Osprey Twilight; Four Records Fall

Galloway, N.J. – Sophomore Isaiah Whaley (Mays Landing, N.J./Atlantic City) picked up his first victory of the season as he finished first overall in the 400-meter dash as the Holy Family University men's track & field team competed at the Osprey Twilight hosted by Stockton University on Friday night at G. Larry James Stadium.

Meet Highlights

* Whaley recorded a new personal-best with a time of 50.59 seconds to win the 400-meter dash. In the process, he set the top time in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this season qualifying for the upcoming conference championships in the event.

* Sophomore Terrence Jones (Newark, N.J./William Allen) set one of four schools records during the meet. Jones finished second overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.61 setting a new standard in the Holy Family record book. The previous record of 59.98 seconds was set by George Dorsey III (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) at the 2018 Mason-Dixon Invitational. Jones also owns the school record in the 110-meter hurdles that he set earlier this year. His time of 58.61 seconds ranks third among conference qualifiers this season.

* In the discus, junior Blake Impagliazzo (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) broke his own school record with a distance of 122'6" (37.35m) to finish eighth overall in the event. His previous best was 119'3" (36.35m) set at the 2019 Oscar Moore Invitational. Impagliazzo also broke the school record in the javelin as he finished sixth overall in the event with a distance of 151'10" (46.29m). The previous record was set by John Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) at the 2019 CACC Championships (112'0" (34.15m).

* The fourth and final record to fall at the meet was in the hammer throw as senior Benjamin Morley (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame HS) broke his own mark with a distance of 107' 0" (32.61m). He finished ninth overall in the event. Morley's previous top mark was 103' 11" (31.67m) that he set earlier this season at the Oscar Moore Invitational. His distance of 107' 0" ranks fifth among CACC qualifiers. Morley also competed in the discus and set a new personal-best with a distance of 118' 5" (36.09m) to finish 10^th overall.

* In the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Reymond Reyes (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) set a new personal-best of 16.71 seconds to finish second overall in the event. His time is currently fifth-best in the CACC.

* Holy Family had four sprinters finish in the top-10 in the 400-meters with Whaley. Freshman Noah Chinye (Maryland/Skylight HS (Prince George's CC)) finished fifth overall with a time of 52.33 seconds and was followed by fellow freshmen Vicenté Velez (Philadelphia, Pa., Father Judge) (7^th – 53.40) and Rojay Silburn (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys & Girls) (10^th – 54.62). All set new personal-bests in the event.

* In the 200-meters, Chinye and Silburn finished fifth and seventh respectively as both set personal-best times in the event. Chinye recorded a time of 23.81 seconds, while Silburn finished in 24.16 seconds.

* Freshman Dom Prestipino (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) finished third overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Prestipino recorded a time of 12:23.17 in his first time competing in the event at the collegiate level.
