Tigers Overpower Golden Falcons, 17-2



Bryn Athyn, Pa. –  The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 17 goals as the Tigers picked up their second conference victory of the season with a 17-2 triumph over visiting Felician University on Friday night at Nelson Field on the campus of Bryn Athyn College.

How It Happened
 
* The Holy Family offense fired off 23 first half shots resulting in seven goals.  The Tigers scored the first six goals of the game and held the Golden Falcons scoreless until the final minute of the opening half.  Junior Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) capped the scoring in the half with a goal with :20 seconds remaining to give the Tigers a 7-1 halftime lead.  It was her third of the half.
 
* In the second half the Tigers opened with four straight goals to grab their first double-digit lead of the game at 11-1.  Felician halted the run with a score at the 22:18 mark but that would be the only tally for the Golden Falcons the rest of the half.  Holy Family scored the final six goals of the game holding Felician scoreless the final 22:18 minutes of regulation.
 
* Holy Family recorded 21 shots in the second half to finish the game with 44 shots; two shy of the team's season-high.  The Tigers' defense held Felician to only seven shots; the fewest allowed by the Tigers this year. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Santucci finished with a game-high six goals setting a new career-high for goals in a game.  She also led the team with nine ground balls and four caused turnovers.
 
* Senior Sarah Reed (Croydon, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic (Bryn Athyn)) finished with a season-high seven ground balls with two caused turnovers.
 
* Sophomore Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) tallied four goals to go along with three ground balls.  Hardy also controlled a game-high seven draws.
 
* Freshman Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) totaled six points in her collegiate debut.  She scored four goals and assisted on two others. 
 
* Junior Tatceyana Pulley (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) finished the game with three points on one goal and two assists.
 
* Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlyn Musick (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) earned the win as she finished with three saves after facing a season-low seven shots by the Golden Falcons.

* Holy Family as a team recorded a season-high 37 ground balls, which ranks fourth most in a single game by the Tigers in program history.
 
* For Felician, Tala Marzooq and Emma Perone each scored.  Goalkeeper Lauren Bain made 19 stops in net.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the fifth meeting between Holy Family and Felician since the start of the 2016 season.  The Tigers are a perfect 5-0 versus the Golden Falcons in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, April 21 as the Tigers travel across town to face Thomas Jefferson University in a CACC match up.  Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
