Tigers Drop Conference Tilt to Lions



Lakewood, N.J. – The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Georgian Court University by the score of 16-5 on Wednesday afternoon at the GCU Track & Field Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Georgian Court scored 10 unanswered goals before Holy Family was able to light up the scoreboard.  That turned out to be the difference in the game as the Lions took a commanding 10 goal lead in the first half.  Junior Mackenzie Santucci (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional (RCBC)) scored the Tigers' first goal at the 3:35 mark of the first half.  The Lions led 11-2 at the half.
 
* The Georgian Court goalkeepers combined for nine saves on the afternoon as the Tigers were only able to get 14 of their 23 shots on-goal. 
 
* The Lions controlled the draw throughout the game by a 17-6 margin.
 
News and Notes
 
* Santucci scored four of the team's five goals; one shy of her season-high.  She also controlled four of the team's six draws won.
 
* Freshman Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) scored the Tigers other goal with a second half tally.
 
* Sophomore Lynn Hardy (Audubon, N.J./Camden Catholic) led Holy Family with two ground balls and two caused turnovers on defense.
 
* Georgian Court's Heather Devaney finished with four goals and one assist for five points.  Amanda Marino and Shaine Sauter each scored three goals for the Lions.  Sauter finished with five points as she added a pair of assists.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 21st meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court since the start of the 2009 season.  The Tigers are now 9-12 in the all-time series versus the Lions.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action as the Tigers host Felician University under the lights on Friday, April 16 in CACC action. Game time is set for 8 p.m. at Nelson Field on the campus of Bryn Athyn College.
