West Chester, Pa. – The Holy Family University softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to nationally ranked No. 20 West Chester University by the scores of 10-0 and 9-1 on Sunday afternoon at the WCU Softball Field.

How It Happened (Game 1)
* West Chester's Mary Picozzi (2-0) pitched a no-hitter in the opener to pick up her second win of the season. Picozzi struck out a pair of batters and only allowed four baserunners via one walk and three hit batters.
* The Golden Rams gave Picozzi plenty of run support especially early on in the game. Trisha Kopinetz hit a two-out solo home run in the opening inning for the game's first run. West Chester added another run in the second before exploding for eight runs in the third inning. Katelyn Rittenbaugh and Madison Melvin each drove in a pair of runs in the inning.

Taylor Nichols (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) reached base twice for the Tigers on a hit by pitch in the first and a base on balls in the fourth inning.
* Kopinetz went 2-for-3 for the Golden Rams with two runs and two RBI. Courtney Stump also had a couple hits going 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
How It Happened (Game 2)
* Holy Family struck first in game two thanks to a two-out solo home run by junior
Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) in the opening inning. It marked her second home run of the season and the 10
th of her career.
* The Tigers' lead didn't last long though as West Chester responded with three runs in the bottom of the first. Jaime Klemas drove in a pair of runs and would go on to score off a double by Grace Aguilar.
* The Golden Rams plated another run in the second to lead, 4-1, before closing out the game in the bottom of the fifth with a five run inning forcing the eight-run mercy rule.
Inside the Box Score
* Hansen went 2-for-2 in the game for the Tigers with a double and her first inning home run. Nichols also had a hit going 1-for-2 in the game.
* West Chester's Jen Hanshaw (2-0) earned her second victory of the season as she pitched a complete five-inning game. She struck out eight batters and scatter three hits while allowing just the one run.
* Rittenbaugh along with Bri Garber and Emily Kim had two hits each for the Golden Rams.

Today marked the 25

th matchup between Holy Family and West Chester since the start of the 2002 season. The Tigers are now 7-19 versus the Golden Rams in the all-time series.
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, March 25 as the Tigers host city rival Thomas Jefferson University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. Game one is set for 2 p.m. at Bensalem High School.
