SAAC Fundraiser Underway to Support Two Local Causes

SAAC - Bennett Fundraiser
The Holy Family University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is selling shirts and all proceeds are being donated to The BennettStrong Foundation and Wheels for Bennett! The BennettStrong Foundation honors the battles that micro-preemies and pediatric cancer fighters face every day. Greg Pellegrino, the Director of Sports Information at Holy Family, and his wife Mary are the founders of this Foundation. Their mission is to provide support to families of medically complex children. Together they raise funds to produce and donate N/IICU parent survival kits to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. 

Greg and Mary have given so much to families in the N/IICU and SAAC would like to give back to their son, Bennett.  Bennett is a second grader with a lot of complex medical issues.  He has been diagnosed with blindness, cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder and an intellectual disability, all of which leaves him wheelchair-bound.  He is also in remission from hepatoblastoma (liver cancer).  A new campaign called Wheels for Bennett has begun to help their family buy a wheelchair accessible van.  We hope as a University and Community we can sell these shirts and donate funds to help improve Bennett's quality of life and make accessing his community safer. Our goal is to donate 75-percent of all proceeds to the Pellegrino Family and 25-percent of the proceeds raised will go to the BennettStrong Foundation with a check presentation by SAAC.

Holy Family SAAC has been a major supporter of the BennettStrong Foundation, volunteering at the foundation's annual gala the past three years. The foundation will be hosting its fourth annual BennettStrong Foundation Gala virtually on Saturday, March 27.  Funds raised at this event go directly to the N/IICU Parent Survival Kit Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. To learn more about BennettStrong visit www.bennettstrong.org.
