How It Happened

* Holy Family trailed 47-41 with two minutes remaining in the game after GCU's Shane Williams knocked down a jumper.  A pair of free throws by freshman Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) followed by a dunk score by junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) on back-to-back possessions made the score 47-45 with a minute to play. On the team's next possession, Esposito tied the game with a layup after a defensive stop by the Tigers.

* With :21 seconds remaining, the Lions turned the ball over with freshman Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J./St. Joseph Academy) recording the steal.  A missed shot by the Tigers led to a defensive board and a foul which sent Andreas VonFricke to the line as he split a pair of free throws to give GCU a 48-47 lead with :13 seconds on the clock.

* On the Tigers' ensuing possession outside a timeout, a missed layup drive by Esposito, that appeared to have drawn contact on the play, led to a defensive board by Jelani Jackson.  The Tigers were forced to foul right away and Jackson went on to make both free throws with three seconds remaining in regulation.  The Tigers final shot attempt to potentially tie the game came up short as time expired.

* Holy Family led by as many as seven points early on in the second half.  Junior Daniel Fleming (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) hit one of his five threes on the day to give the Tigers a 36-29 advantage at the 14:01 mark. The Lions followed with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 36-36 by the midway point of the half.
