How It Happened

* The final 6:37 of the first half turned out to be the turning point of the game.  After Holy Family came within one point of the lead (25-24) after a three-pointer by junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan), the Spartans followed with an 18-0 run to close out the half.  The surge by St. Thomas Aquinas gave the Spartans a 43-24 lead heading into halftime.

* Holy Family came out firing in the second half as the Tigers cut the deficit to single digits thanks to an 11-0 run to open the half.  Esposito capped the run with a three-pointer that made the score 43-35 at the 16:35 mark.

* The eight-point margin would be as close as the Tigers would get of the lead the rest of the way.  The Spartans responded with a basket on their ensuing possession and then back-to-back three-pointers by Antonio Vendola capped an 8-0 run to give the Spartans a 16-point advantage (51-35) with 14:42 remaining.

*  The Spartans led by as many as 26 points on a few occasions in the second half with the first coming at the 7:50 mark with the score set at 72-46 after a jumper by Jerrel Kelly.
