McSeed Named CACC Goalkeeper of the Year; Four Earn All-CACC Honors

New Haven, Conn. – Holy Family University senior Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year as voted upon by the conferences head coaches and announced by Commissioner Dan Mara on Tuesday morning.  In addition, McSeed was one of four players from Holy Family to earn All-CACC honors.

McSeed, along with senior Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) and sophomore Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) were named to the All-CACC first team, while freshman Grace Joyce (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) earned All-CACC second team recognition.

It's the second straight season that Holy Family has the top goalkeeper in the conference as former standout Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) was named Goalkeeper of the Year during the 2020-21 Spring campaign.  McSeed had a spectacular regular season where she set career-highs in all major categories. McSeed ranks first in the CACC in wins (11) and shutouts (8) and is second in goals against average (0.77), save percentage (.852) and minutes (1469:47).

McSeed is earning All-CACC honors for the first time in her career.  She was selected the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week three times during the course of the season.  In 35 career games, McSeed is 17-8-2 with a goals against average of 0.91.  She also has totaled 119 saves in her career and 12 shutouts.

Ziegler is earning All-CACC honors for the second straight season as she leads the team in scoring with 18 points; one shy of her career-high set as a freshman.  Ziegler has totaled five goals and a career-high eight assists.  Her eight helpers are ranked second in the CACC through the regular season.

Ziegler has recorded at least one point in nine of the team's 17 games this season and the Tigers are 7-0-2 in those contests.  She has been named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll three times during the course of the season.  In 45 career games, Ziegler has 19 goals and 19 assists for 57 points.

Kilkenny is earning All-CACC honors for the first time in her career.  A major component to the Holy Family defense, Kilkenny is part of a defensive unit that has allowed the least number of goals both in conference play and overall.  Holy Family has allowed 14 goals overall this season and only six in conference action.  Holy Family is also only allowing 10 shots per game by its opponents and has held eight teams to single digit shots.

Kilkenny also has been getting it done offensively as she has two goals and an assist on the year.  Her first collegiate goal came back in September in a 1-1 draw with Bentley University. Kilkenny was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 3 and was also selected to the Weekly Honor Roll once during the season.

Joyce, another key aspect to the Holy Family defensive corps, is earning All-CACC honors in her first year of collegiate action.  Joyce is the first Holy Family freshman since 2017 to earn All-CACC recognition.  She has started 16 of the team's 17 games this season.

Holy Family (11-4-2, 9-2-0 CACC) hosts Caldwell University in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament this afternoon starting at 1 p.m. Holy Family is making its 23rd straight trip to the CACC Tournament as the women's soccer program is the only team sport to qualify for the conference tournament each year since joining in 1999. The Tigers are a whopping 31-11-3 in the CACC Tournament and have appeared in 13 conference championship games in the program's history.

The winner of today's quarterfinal match up will advance to the CACC semifinals and face the winner of #3 Jefferson/#6 Post University quarterfinal game.  Post will be serving as host of the CACC semifinals and finals with the semifinals being played at Municipal Stadium, while the final will be contested at LaMoy Field on Post's campus.
