How It Happened

* In a very tight and contested match, the Tigers escaped the first set by the score of 25-20.  After Nyack came within one point of the Tigers' lead at 17-16, Holy Family scored three straight points thanks to back-to-back kills from junior Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and then a solo kill by senior Tayana Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill-Freedom World Academy) which led to a Nyack timeout. Leading 20-17, the Tigers and Warriors exchanged points over the next six points scored in the set before a kill by senior Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) capped off by a Warriors' error sealed the set for the Tigers.

* Nyack picked up the win in the second set, 25-20, to tie the match.  The Tigers then took the third set in yet another competitive set.  Despite never trailing in the set, Holy Family's biggest lead of the set came at 13-10 before scoring the final five points of the set.  With the Warriors within two points at 20-18, Holy Family went on a 5-0 run to close out the set at 25-18.

* In the fourth set, Holy Family led majority of the way despite Nyack coming within one point of the lead at 14-13.  Following two points by the Tigers and a point from the Warriors, Holy Family went on a 3-0 with bookend kills from junior Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and senior Camille Johnson (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) to extend the lead to 19-14.  Holy Family would go on to once again score the final five points to take the set, 25-16.
