Tigers Fall to Golden Bears, 79-61



Kutztown, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest on the road against Kutztown University by the score of 79-61 on Wednesday afternoon at Keystone Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Sophomore Anujin Dashdorj (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) knocked down a three-pointer on the Tigers first offensive possession to grab a 3-2 lead but from there on it was all Kutztown.  The Golden Bears grabbed the lead right back on their next possession when Alexis Smith hit a three of her own to make the score 5-3.  From there the home team went on to increase the lead to nine at the 4:10 mark with a 17-8 advantage.  Holy Family cut the deficit down to four points on a quick 5-0 run capped off by a three-pointer by junior Jada Saeger (Walnutport, Pa./Northern Lehigh) to make the score 17-13 with three minutes to play in the opening quarter.  The Golden Bears followed with a 5-0 run before Saeger drained another three-pointer to close out the scoring in the quarter as Kutztown led 21-16.
 
* The second quarter turned out to be the turning point as Kutztown outscored Holy Family, 20-6, as the Golden Bears over the first 7:37 minutes of the quarter used a 16-2 run to lead 37-18.  Kutztown would go on to take a 41-22 advantage entering the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* In the second half, Kutztown would maintain its double-digit lead and increased its advantage to as many as 24 points in the both the third and fourth quarters.  The Golden Bears shot over 50-percent from the field for the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Dashdorj scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Tigers in scoring.  All of her points came via the three-point ball as she shot 5-of-11 from deep range.
 
* Saeger also finished with a career-high as she totaled nine points off the bench after knocking down a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.  She also grabbed four rebounds.
 
* Graduate Megan Hughes (Point Pleasant Boro, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) led the team with six rebounds to go along with five points.
 
* Kutztown had four players score in double-figures with Smith leading the way with 14 points.  Casey Remolde recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.  Annie Whalen (11) and Naia Pulliam (10) each scored in double-digits off the bench.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 12th meeting between Holy Family and Kutztown since the start of the 1998 season.  The Tigers are now 10-2 versus the Golden Bears in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 27 as the Tigers travel to face Saint Anselm College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
