How It Happened

* The match came down to the fifth and final set.  The Tigers found themselves trailing 4-1 early on in the set, but with the score 9-7 later in the set the Tigers made a run.  Junior Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) jump started a 7-1 surge by the Tigers with a kill to give Holy Family a 14-10 advantage.  The Rams facing elimination ripped off four straight points to tie the set at 14-14.  An attack error by the Rams gave the Tigers match-point once more at 15-14.  Jefferson though responded with back-to-back kills from Sam Mann and Jess Molan to close out the match with a 17-15 victory.

* Holy Family won the first two sets and nearly rallied to take the match in three sets.  Trailing 22-18 in the third set, the Tigers went on a 5-0 run to grab a 23-22 lead.  The Tigers totaled four kills and had an ace by junior Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) during the run.  The rest of the set would go back-and-forth down the stretch before Jefferson broke a 27-27 tie by scoring the final two points.  The Rams forced a fifth and decisive set by winning the fourth set, 25-23.
