Tigers Fall to Lions in Non-Conference Action



Lincoln University, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest on the road to Lincoln University by the score of 77-58 on Wednesday night at Manuel Rivero Gym.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family trailed by as many as 15 points late in the first half after Lincoln's Bernard Lightsey drained a three to make the score 36-21 at the 3:15 mark.  The Tigers responded in a big way and would go on to outscore the Lions, 9-0, the rest of the way to cut the deficit down to 36-30 at the half.  A Fastbreak dunk by junior Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) jumpstarted the run by the Tigers.
 
* The Tigers came within four points of the lead in the early part of the second half after junior Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) converted a pair of free throws to make the score 38-34.  Lincoln followed with a 10-1 run to increase its lead back to double-digits at 48-34 at the 15:18 mark.
 
* Holy Family cut the Lions' lead back down to single digits and came within two possessions to tying the game after junior Nate Conyer (Pemberton, N.J./BCIT Medford) drained a three-pointer to make the score 52-47 with 11:42 to play in the half.  However, over the next six minutes the Lions jumped the lead back to double-digits thanks to a 18-6 surge to lead 70-53 with just over five minutes to play.  The home team would go on to lead by as many as 20 points at 75-55.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Randolph led the Tigers with a game-high 21 points (6-12 FG) as he knocked down 4-of-7 from deep range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.  Esposito also finished in double-figures as he totaled 10 points to go along with five boards.
 
* Junior Daniel Fleming (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) added seven points and a team-high six rebounds.
 
* Lincoln's Zahrion Blue recorded a double-double as he tied for the game-high of 21 points while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.  Korey Williams contributed 19 points, while Alex Nunnally added 11 points and nine rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 11th meeting between Holy Family and Lincoln dating back to the 1997 season.  The Tigers are now 8-3 versus the Lions in the all-time series.  The win marked the Lions first against the Tigers since 2008.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 20 as the Tigers host Queens College in the team's home opener.  Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
