Tigers Blank Cougars, 3-0, in CACC Contest



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's soccer team picked up a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at New Tiger Field in part of Homecoming at the University.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family scored its first of three goals midway through the first half.  Junior Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) connected on his fourth goal of the season with a shot from the left side towards the lower-right part of the net.  Freshman Gavin Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and senior Georg Montag (Philadelphia, Pa., Archbishop Ryan) assisted on the score.
 
* Five-minutes later the Tigers struck again, this time senior Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.  Richmond's score in the 24th minute made the score 2-0.  Taylor led a pass to Richmond to set up the score.
 
* Holy Family pressured Caldwell with 13 shots in the first half with eight of them being on-target. 
 
* The Tigers tacked on an insurance goal in the second half with Rowan scoring his first collegiate goal in the 69th minute.  Montag assisted on the play for his second assist of the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Taylor and Rowan each finished with three points on the afternoon with each scoring a goal and assisting on another.  Montag's two assists marked his first career-high multi-assist game.
 
* Senior goalkeeper Mark Tobin (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (La Salle Univ.)) tallied his second shutout of the season after making three saves in net.  The blank slate is his 12th shutout of his career.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 25th meeting between Holy Family and Caldwell since the start of the 1997 season.  The Tigers are now 12-12-1 versus the Cougars in that span.  Holy Family has won the last four matchups of the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 13 as the Tigers host city-rival Thomas Jefferson University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
