Tigers Shutdown City Rival Rams, 1-0



Philadelphia, Pa. – A penalty kick in the 82nd minute converted by senior Davis Habilaj (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) turned out to be the difference as the Holy Family University men's soccer team defeated city rival Thomas Jefferson University, 1-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
 
* Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the first 81-plus minutes until Habilaj connected on a penalty kick attempt to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage.  A foul inside the box by Jefferson credited the Tigers with the PK. 
 
* In the 88th minute, Jefferson nearly tied the game but a header shot by Val Mokrejs hit off the crossbar as Holy Family was able to clear the ball out of the zone.

* Habilaj's goal marked his team leading fifth score of the season.
 
* Senior goalkeeper Mark Tobin (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (La Salle Univ.)) made two saves in net to secure his second straight shutout and third of the season.  Tobin has 13 shutouts now in his career.
 
* Holy Family outshot the Rams, 15-10, with seven of their 15 shots on-target. 
 
* Jefferson's keeper, Matteo Crescente, made six saves in net.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 15th meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson since the start of the 2008 season.  The Tigers are now 7-6-2 versus the Rams in the all-time series.

Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct 16 as the Tigers host Post University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
