How It Happened

* Holy Family opened the match with a 12-3 run to take control early in the first set.  Six of the team's first 12 points came via the kill.  A late surge by the Devils cut the deficit down to 18-15, but that would be as close as the home team would get of the Tigers' lead.  Junior Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) closed the set out with back-to-back kills.

* In the second set the Tigers once again jumped out to a quick 5-1 start.  Holy Family never trailed in the set despite USciences tying the set at 12-12 after a kill by Bianca Galis.  The Tigers responded with three straight kills by Hartney, sophomore Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and senior Tayana Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill-Freedom World Academy).  Junior Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) capped a 4-0 run with an ace.  The Devils followed with three straight points to make the score 16-15, but the Tigers quickly went on another 4-0 run to regain a five-point edge. The Tigers went on to take the set, 25-22.

* Holy Family trailed for the first time in the match in the third set.  The Devils led by as many as four points with the latter coming with a 13-9 advantage. With USciences leading, 16-14, the Tigers went on a momentum changing 7-0 run to grab their first lead of the season. Junior Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) supplied the Tigers with three kills during the run.  Holy Family maintained the lead the rest of the way and secured the win by scoring the final three points of the set.
