Hall of Fame Honoree: Kelly Killion '08

Holy Family University will be inducting five new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame this coming Friday at The Buck Hotel.  All this week we'll highlight each honoree leading up to Friday night's induction ceremony.  Our next honoree is former women's basketball standout Kelly Killion '08.

KELLY KILLION (2004-2008)

WBB - Kelly Killion HoF CardOne of only two student-athletes in the department's Division II era to be named CACC Player of the Year twice, Killion was also a four-time All-CACC selection for the decorative women's basketball team from 2004-2008.  She earned her first Player of the Year award as a junior in 2007 and then again, in her senior season in 2008.  Those two years Killion was also named to the Daktronics All-East Region first team.  In her career, Killion amassed 1,574 points, which ranks 10th most in program history.  She finished her career as the program's top three-point shooter with 313 made three-pointers.  Killion also ranks second all-time with 619 assists and seventh in field goals made with 516.  Killion was part of three CACC Championship teams while at Holy Family and went to the NCAA Tournament all four years of her career, including the 2008 team that advanced all the way to the regional final for the first time in program history.  In 2017, Killion and her teammates of the 2007-08 team were inducted into the CACC Hall of Fame.

Q1: What was your initial reaction when you were told you were going to be inducted into the Holy Family Hall of Fame?
"I was filled with gratitude and joy specifically for those who played a major role in helping me to have success at HFU. My coaches, teammates and family are the reason for all of the success I have had. When I was called, they are the ones who I immediately thought of because without them, I wouldn't have excelled."

Q2: What does it mean to you to be part of Holy Family's history and a future Hall of Fame member?
"As a future member of the Hall of Fame, it is humbling to have all of the hard work and dedication be recognized. Holy Family holds a special place in my heart and to be afforded this honor, is indescribable. I hold this honor with high regard and I am thankful to be apart of a distinguished group of Hall of Famers!"

Q3: What was your favorite moment at Holy Family?
"While winning three CACC Championships during my time at Holy Family are extremely important to me, my favorite memories would be the time spent with my teammates and coaches. The wins and losses will always be a part of the game, but the relationships I built and sustain today have given me an invaluable piece of Holy Family."

Q4: What message do you have for current and future student-athletes that want to continue their education and athletic careers at Holy Family?

"I've said this before and I will continue to say it….Love what you do and love who you are doing it with! We may not have had the most talented teams but we loved competing and playing hard for our teammates and coaches which ultimately lead to our success. Invest time on and OFF the floor in yourself, teammates, coaches and Holy Family. I promise, you won't regret it! Your time is limited at Holy Family so enjoy every moment and do not rush to graduation. The real world is waiting to get its hands on you...make it wait! Have fun, be safe, laugh, love and hug your teammates! Those will be the memories you hold on to!"
