Tigers Fall to Purple Knights, 2-0



Bridgeport, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team saw its season-long six-game winning streak and seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end after suffering a 2-0 setback at the University of Bridgeport in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Knights Field.

How It Happened
 
* Bridgeport scored two first half goals within less than three minutes of one another.  The first came in the 15th minute when Evelyn Hammer scored her second goal of the season.  She received a pass from Andrea Basilicato to the middle of the box after Bridgeport forced a takeaway on defense.  In the 18th minute, the Purple Knights doubled their lead after Kate Thill scored her second goal of the season.  Thill connected with a shot to the lower left corner.  Hammer assisted on the play.

* Holy Family finished the game with nine total shots with five on-goal.  Sophomore Brenna McCarry (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) led the Tigers with two shots, both of which were on-target.
 
* Senior goalkeeper Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) finished the game with four saves.  Her shutout streak came to an end as it lasted an impressive 583:18. McSeed still holds a goals against average of less than 1.00 at 0.52.
 
* Bridgeport's Clara Karlsson made five saves in net.
 
* The Tigers' seven-game unbeaten streak was the longest since the 2013 season when the team had a stretch of 6-0-1.  The six-game winning streak was the longest since the Tigers won six straight in 2011 on their way to capture the CACC title.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Bridgeport dating back to the 2003 season.  The Tigers are now 0-6-0 versus the Purple Knights in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 9 as the Tigers host Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The game is part of Homecoming 2021 at Holy Family.  For more information visit holyfamily.edu/homecoming.  Game time is set for 12 p.m.
