How It Happened

* Holy Family jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening set and never looked back.  The Tigers would grab a double-digit advantage late 22-12 lead after a Caldwell attack error.  Holy Family won the set 25-16 sealed by a kill from sophomore Natasha Yanief (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson).  The Tigers hit a match-best .211 in the opening set with 13 kills and only five attack errors.

* The second set turned out to be closer than the Tigers would have liked.  Holy Family gave the Cougars 12 points off attack errors, while the home team only made three miscues in the set but only accounting for nine kills.  Holy Family held the largest lead of the set at 13-10 but maintained the lead until the Cougars scored three straight points to make the score 17-16.  The Tigers regained the lead at 20-19 before the Cougars tied the set at 24-24.  A kill by junior Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) made the score 25-24, before a bad set by the Cougars' Reese Sherwood gave the Tigers the set-point at 26-24.

* Holy Family scored the first seven points to open the third set and then when leading 14-10, ripped off six straight points to grab a commanding 20-10 lead.  The Cougars would rally and score 10 of the next 12 points in the set to come within two points of the lead.  However, a kill by Yanief and back-to-back aces by senior Stephanie Woolston (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) secured the set victory and match.  Holy Family recorded seven of its season-high 13 aces in the third set.
