How It Happened

* Holy Family made quick work of its city rival taking the match in three sets.  The Tigers led majority of the first half, including a six-point lead at 16-10 after a 5-0 run.  Jefferson chipped away at the Tigers lead and eventually grabbed its first lead at 21-20.  Holy Family would go on to lead by multiple points after a kill by senior Tayana Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill-Freedom World Academy) and an ace by junior Maeve Boylan (Ridley Township, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) made the score 24-22.  After a Rams point made it 24-23, the Tigers clinched the set after a Jefferson attack error.

* In the second set Holy Family overcame an early 12-6 deficit thanks to a 6-0 run to tie the score at 12-12. Both teams would go back and forth until three unanswered points by the Tigers gave the home team a 19-17 advantage.  Holy Family held on to the lead and would score six of the final nine points of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

* Holy Family opened the third set with three straight points and never looked back.  The Tigers never trailed in the set even though the Rams put the pressure on by coming within one point of the lead on a few occasions.  The latter coming at 20-19 but two miscues by the Rams gave the Tigers a 22-19 lead. Holy Family took the set, 25-21.
