How It Happened

* After dropping the first set, the Tigers came back and took an important second set to tie the match.  With the set tied 11-11, Holy Family scored three straight points to lead 14-11.  From there the Tigers never relinquished the lead despite Wilmington coming within one point of tying the set five times down the stretch.  Holy Family won the set, 25-23, off a kill from junior Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer).

* The momentum carried over into the third set as the Tigers used a 7-0 run after Wilmington scored the first two points of the set. Once again, Holy Family never trailed from that point forward even with the Wildcats cutting the deficit to 17-16 after a 4-0 run.  Holy Family responded by scoring six of the next seven points to lead 23-17; the team's largest lead of the set.  After a kill by the Wildcats the Tigers received back-to-back kills from junior Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Osenkarski to close the set.

* Wilmington led 11-4 in the fourth set, but Holy Family rallied with a 10-0 run to grab a 14-11 advantage.  Just like the previous two sets, once the Tigers gained possession of the lead, they didn't allow the Wildcats to overtake them.  Wilmington did tie the score late at 24-24 after a 3-0 run with the Tigers ahead 24-21.  Both teams exchanged kills on the next two rallies before the Tigers took the set with back-to-back kills by Hartney and Osenkarski.
