Tigers and Chargers Finish in a 1-1 Draw



West Haven, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team finished its non-conference contest at the University of New Haven in a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of regulation and overtime on Wednesday afternoon at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

How It Happened
 
* New Haven scored the game's first goal within the first 10 minutes of action as Meghan Dellea scored her third goal of the season.  Madison Blonde assisted on the score.
 
* In the 24th minute a foul by New Haven's Kaitlyn Price inside the box gave Holy Family a penalty kick opportunity.  Senior Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) took the kick and scored her third goal of the season and second in as many games to tie the score at 1-1.
 
* Ziegler's goal was the final score in regulation which forced overtime.  In the first overtime period, New Haven outshot the Tigers, 4-1, as senior goalkeeper Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) stopped all four on-target shots. In the second overtime period, the Chargers put two more shots on-goal, but McSeed came up with two more big saves to keep the score tied.  McSeed's final save came in the 105th minute.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Ziegler's goal in the 24th minute marked her team leading third score of the season.  She currently leads the Tigers in goals, assists (6) and points (12).
 
* McSeed tied her career-high with 11 saves.  Six of her 11 saves came in the two overtime periods.
 
* New Haven goalkeeper Paige Davis finished the game with seven stops.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting between Holy Family and New Haven since the start of the 2005 season and the first since 2008.  The Tigers are now 1-3-1 versus the Chargers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 as the Tigers host Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.  Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at New Tiger Field.
