Tigers Fall to Golden Falcons

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Felician University by the score of 83-66 on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* Leading 19-18 midway through the first half, Felician went on a 10-2 run to take a 29-20 advantage by the 6:02 mark.  The Tigers cut the lead down to five points (29-24) after a three-pointer by sophomore Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) and a free throw by senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)).  However, the Golden Falcons responded with five straight points and went on to lead by as many as 12 points (38-26) in the half before entering halftime with a 38-28 advantage.
 
* In the second half the Tigers came within single digits when junior Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic (Merrimack College0) knocked down a three-pointer that made the score 46-39 at the 13:58 mark of the half.  That turned out to be as close as the Tigers would get to the lead.  The Golden Falcons went on a 12-2 run over the next five-plus minutes to take a commanding 58-41 lead with 8:47 to play.
 
* The Golden Falcons swelled their lead to as many as 21 points after a basket by Marlon Reid made the score 64-43 with less than seven minutes to play in regulation.  Felician maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
News and Notes
 
* Esposito and Moore each led the Tigers with 22 points.  Esposito added six rebounds and had a day defensively with three blocks and five steals.  Moore totaled three boards, three assists and three steals to go along with the 22 points.
 
* Aughburns recorded his team leading ninth double-double of the season after totaling 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
 
* Freshman Nate Conyer (Pemberton, N.J./BCIT Medford) came off the bench and added eight points.
 
* Felician's Jaylen Colon scored a game-high 23 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, including 4-of-4 from deep range.  Rachid Shimou added 15 points and seven boards.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 23rd meeting between Holy Family and Felician in the Tigers' Division II era.  The Tigers are now 15-8 versus the Golden Falcons since the start of the 2003-04 season.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 as the Tigers host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
