Game Recap

* Goldey-Beacom jumped out to a 10-2 lead by the six-minute mark of the first quarter before the Tigers came roaring back.  Holy Family closed out the quarter on a 10-1 run to grab its first lead of the game thanks to a three-pointer by junior Ege-Ly Viirmaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Kadrioru Saksa Gymnasium) to cap the scoring in the quarter.

* In the second quarter Holy Family scored 18 straight points before Goldey-Beacom got on the board.  The Lightning tallied their first points at the three-minute mark on a pair of free throws that halted the Tigers' run.  Holy Family led 30-11 prior to the free throw attempts.

* The Tigers entered halftime with a 32-17 advantage after limiting Goldey-Beacom to 1-of-17 shooting from the field.  Holy Family in turn shot 9-of-14 in the second quarter, including a pair of three-pointers to fuel the run.

* Holy Family maintained its double-digit lead the entire third quarter and even increased the lead back to as high as 19 points.  A jumper by junior Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) gave the Tigers a 42-23 advantage at the 6:20 mark. A quick 10-2 run by the Lightning cut the deficit down to 11 points (44-33), but the Tigers were able to close out the quarter with back-to-back baskets to lead 48-33 entering the final quarter.

* In the fourth, the Tigers led by 18 points (54-36) with 6:43 to play.  Over the next five-plus minutes the Lightning rallied with a 22-4 run to eventually tie the game at 58-58 with 1:31 left on the clock. After converting a pair of free throws, Amanda McGrogan came up with a steal and then scored a layup to tie the game. Holy Family broke the tie on its next possession after Hayes made good on two free throw attempts. On the ensuing possession, GBC tied the game again after a jumper in the paint by Alexis Harrison with 1:01 to play.

* After a Holy Family missed three-pointer, Goldey-Beacom had a chance to take the lead.  The Lightning missed multiple shots, however McGrogan came up with two offensive boards.  On the latter board, McGrogan was fouled and in-turn converted two free throws to give the Lightning a 62-60 lead. With 10 seconds left, Holy Family was unable to tie the game to force overtime after two unsuccessful shot attempts before regulation expired.
