Game Recap

* Holy Family overcame a double-digit deficit midway through the first half.  A tip-in basket by Jesiah West at the 10:02 mark gave the Lightning a 20-10 advantage.  Over the next five minutes the Tigers came roaring back and grabbed the lead when senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) capped a 12-1 run with a tip-in basket of his own. Holy Family would end the final 10 minutes of the half outscoring the Lightning, 23-5, to lead 33-25 at the half.

* In the second half, the Lightning would eventually recapture the lead after chipping away at the Tigers' lead.  By the midway point of the half, the home team grabbed their first lead since late in the first half when Tevin Service drained a three-pointer to make the score 49-48 with 10:13 to play in regulation.  The Lighting opened the second half outscoring the Tigers, 24-15.

* Holy Family quickly regained the lead on its following possession and bumped its advantage to five points after a fast-break score by Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) made the score 58-53 at the seven-minute mark. However, the Lightning responded with a 12-1 run over the next three-plus minutes to grab a 65-59 advantage.

* The Lightning held a multiple possession lead up until :13 seconds remaining when junior Brendan Hoban (Watertown, Mass./Millbrook) knocked down a clutch three to make the score 70-69.  On following GBC possession Hoban made a key steal defensively but his potential go-ahead three-pointer with three seconds left fell short as the Lightning grabbed the defensive board.  Forced the foul, the Tigers sent the Lightning to the line and Yasin Pretlow converted both shots to extend the lead to 72-69.

* Instead of allowing a potential three-point shot to force overtime, the Lightning opted to foul the Tigers with a one-and-one opportunity at the free throw line.  The miss free throw was off and the Lightning managed to grab the missed attempt as time expired.
