Tigers Drop Conference Contest Versus Eagles



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team returned to action for the first time since Dec. 21 and fell to Post University by the score of 101-58 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* A 12-0 run that began at the 12:25 mark of the first half set the tone as Post turned a 17-14 advantage into a comfortable 29-14 lead after a tip-in basket by Abdul-Basit Ajia with 8:57 to play in the opening half. The Eagles went on to increase their lead to as many as 25 points (53-28) in the half before taking a 54-32 lead into the half. 
 
* The Eagles took advantage of 12 first half turnovers by the Tigers that led to 21 points.  Post was also successful with second chance points outscoring the Tigers 13-2 in the first half and 13-3 in the second half.
 
* Holy Family was unable to recover from a rough first half.  The Tigers cut the deficit to as low as 18 points (63-45) early on in the second at 63-45, but the Eagles kept the pressure on and outscored the Tigers, 47-26, in the half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) and sophomore Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) each led the Tigers with 13 points apiece.  Both players had six rebounds as well in the game.  Aughburns blocked a game-high four shots on defense.
 
* Junior Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic (Merrimack College0) finished in double-figures with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
 
* Darrick Boyd led all scorers with 18 points as all of his points came via the three-point line.  Boyd knocked down 6-of-10 attempts from deep range.  Ajia finished with 15 points off the bench after shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the field.  He also totaled a game-high eight rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 22nd meeting between Holy Family and Post since the start of the 2003-04 season.  The Tigers are now 10-12 versus the Eagles in that span.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 8 as the Tigers travel to face Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 8 p.m.
