Tigers Fall to Bears on the Road in CACC Action



Bloomfield, N.J. – The Holy Family University men's basketball team suffered an 89-56 loss on the road against Bloomfield College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at the BC Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* Bloomfield scored the game's first seven points before the Tigers came storming back with the next five to make it a two-point game early on.  However, the Bears responded with a 22-0 run over a seven-minute span to take a commanding lead with the score 29-5 at the 9:06 mark of the opening half.
 
* The Bears kept the pressure on offensively through the rest of the first half and took a 46-24 lead into halftime.
 
* In the second half, Bloomfield increased its lead to as many as 34 points after a three-pointer by Safee Abdus-Sabur made the score 76-42 at the 9:11 mark of the half.  The Bears trailed by no less than 20 points in the final half. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) turned an 8-of-14 shooting performance into a team-high 18 points.  He also led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks on defense.
 
* Junior Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic (Merrimack College0) also finished in double-figures as he totaled 10 points.
 
* Abdus-Sabur totaled a game-high 24 points (9-15 FG) after knocking down four three-pointers in the game.  He also had five boards and three steals for the Bears. Tariq McKenith added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 25th meeting between Holy Family and Bloomfield in the Tigers' Division II era dating back to the start of the 2003-04 season.  The Tigers are now 11-14 versus the Bears in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 23 as the Tigers welcome back Georgian Court University to the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The Tigers and Lions will continue their suspended game from this past Wednesday with the second half.  The continuation of the game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
