Hawks Stun Tigers in Overtime



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat after Saint Anselm College scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat the Tigers in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Game Recap
 
* Senior Caly Farina scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute that also turned out to be the lone goal of the game.  Farina was able to control a loose ball after a pass inside the box was pushed away by the keeper.  Farina managed to get a clean shot off to connect for the score.
 
* Prior to Farina's game ending goal, both teams had opportunities earlier in the overtime period to score.  Junior Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) stopped a header shot by Delaney Bartol in the 93rd minute, while her counterpart, Payton Wildrick, made a save by senior Jess Elliott (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) in the 94th minute.
 
News and Notes
 
* Saint Anselm held a slight edge in total shots, 11-9.  The Hawks though did control corner kick opportunities with eight attempts to just three by the Tigers.
 
* Elliott and sophomore Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) each finished with two shots to lead the Tigers.
 
* Pudlo finished the game with five saves.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Holy Family and Saint Anselm. The Hawks are now 2-0-0 versus the Tigers in the all-time series.  Saint Anselm won the first-ever meeting back in 2008 by the score of 4-1.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 18 as the Tigers travel to face Lincoln University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
