Tigers Drop Opener to No. 23 West Chester



West Chester, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped its season opener on the road to nationally ranked No. 23 West Chester University by the score of 4-0 on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Rockwell Field.  The Golden Rams scored three second-half goals to best the Tigers.

Game Recap
 
* Junior goalkeeper Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) kept the Tigers in the game early on as she made four saves in the first half after facing 13 shots by Golden Rams.  Pudlo went on to finish the game with seven saves.
 
* It was the 13th shot in the first half by West Chester that turned out to be the eventual game-winner.  Olivia Muha broke a scoreless tie in the 39th minute with a goal.
 
* West Chester went on to score three more times in the second half with Hannah Zach accounting for two of the goals.  Zach scored in the 57th and 70th minutes, while Madison Baxter capped the scoring in the 76th minute with a score.
 
News and Notes
 
* West Chester out shot Holy Family, 27-7, for the game.  The Golden Rams also controlled the corner kicks with a 7-2 margin. 
 
* Junior Cassie Kennedy (Delran, N.J./Delran (Rowan at Burlington County)) and freshman Stephanie Marino (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) led the Tigers with two shots each.
 
* West Chester's Brooke Myers earned the win in net as she made four saves in the shutout.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first meeting between Holy Family and West Chester since 2011 and the 12th in the all-time series.  The Golden Rams continue to have the Tigers number, holding an 11-0-1 mark in the series dating back to 1997.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday as the Tigers welcome Saint Anselm College to Tiger Field for the team's home opener.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
